Life in HCMC, Vietnam has truly been one of the most exciting experiences I’ve had in the last 27 years of living abroad. My husband came here on a business trip in 1997 and I accompanied him in 1998.
We both immediately fell in love with the charm and charisma of HCMC and wanted to move here right away. We finally made it here after ten years in May 2008. We used Asian Tigers Group for our moving services as they had previously moved us from Indonesia to Korea and four years later, Korea to the USA. It was a given that for our next business relocation we would use Asian Tigers Group to move us back to Asia. They also assisted us with our visas and resident cards.
With their assistance and introduction to many different Chamber and Networking groups, we have met so many wonderful friends along the way!
Our stay in Vietnam has been exhilarating and filled with thrilling experiences.
The beaches in Danang, NhaTrang, Mui Ne, Ho Tram, have beautiful resorts with several popular Golf Courses such as Vin Pearl Golf, Hoianna, The Bluffs, Montgomery Links, Dong Nai, etc.
Vietnam is rich in history, with UNESCO world heritage sites. Do not miss Ha Long Bay and Hoi An Ancient City, and you will fall in love with both places.
SAPA is in Northern Vietnam and is fascinating. The Hmong people are the largest ethnic group this area. You can mingle with them in town, see how they grow rice on the mountain terraces, and live day-to-day.
Hanoi, the Capital, with temples, the Old Quarter, museums, Hoan Kim lake, great restaurants, you will be entertained from morning to night.
As for me, my true love is HCMC. Being here for the last twelve years has been one of my favorite postings in Asia.
With the Notre Dame church, the Opera house, International restaurants, the Saigon River, the business acumen, and the nicety of the Saigon’s people, I find it to be a most enjoyable place to live.
Even though the city has modern upscale office buildings and apartments, the city is still provincial with a lot of tradition, small streets, and alleys to discover great Vietnamese restaurants and trendy stores.
We are ever so grateful for our expat experiences throughout Southeast Asia and will never look back only forward to the next adventure in store for us! Bloom where you are planted!
