As part of the Pink Month of October, focusing on cancer awareness, Asian Tigers Malaysia organized a health-related awareness and educational program for all staff members at its Shah Alam office: Cancer Awareness and Health Talk. The event underlined the commitment of this company toward the welfare of employees through spreading knowledge and support to those who have an interest in education related to health.
The session began with a warm welcome from the organizing team, followed by an emphasis on awareness about good health and the early detection of cancer. This provided a perfect platform for a highly interactive and educative session that enabled employees to learn a great deal about cancer prevention and healthy living.
Dr. Nadia, a famous medical professional who is considered expert hands in oncology, had been the main speaker of the event. The time finally came for her informative and impactful talk. She started with the basics of types of cancers, common ones among them, and causes which enhance the risk factors. She was crystal clear in her presentation for all.
Early detection was one of the central components of Dr. Nadia’s talk. She gave a detailed overview of the early warning signs for cancer and explained how employees could identify these symptoms. Regular self-examinations and routine medical checkups, she emphasized, enhance the likelihood of detecting cancer at an early stage when successful treatment is more probable. She also demonstrated self-check techniques, particularly for breast cancer, and further advised women and men to be more aware of their health.
As Dr. Nadia’s presentation was in an interactive format, it provided a very good avenue for a question-and-answer session wherein employees could ask questions and clarify their different health-related problems. Dr. Nadia replied to all the questions very patiently and knowledgeably with personalized advice, again hammering on the issue of proactive health management.
The second speaker, Mr. Kenneth, an illustrious personality, talked on healthy lifestyles and eating habits after the enriching session by Dr. Nadia. His speech was very informative and inspirational in motivating employees to inculcate better and healthier habits in their lives. He started with some eye-opening statistics related to the influence or effects of lifestyle on their health and susceptibility to cancer. Indeed, these statistics were a serious awakening, genuinely reflecting the role of diet and exercise in preventing illnesses.
He shared with the audience some tips on how one can have a balanced diet, majoring on whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. He also spoke to the harmful effects of processed foods, too much sugar, and unhealthy fats. Since his argument was based on scientific evidence, it was very relatable and applicable. Another key element he put forth was regular physical activity. Mr. Kenneth gave examples of simple effective exercises one can squeeze into a busy work schedule.
He added some interactivities to the session, including a short demo on stretching exercises and a group discussion on healthy meal planning. Such activities besides imparting practical knowledge helped to bond the staff together to look out for each other in matters concerning health.
The program ended with the organizers thanking Dr. Nadia and Mr. Kenneth for their valuable contribution. Employees left this session better informed and equipped to take charge of health. From there, everybody went home enriched not only with the necessary knowledge on the prevention of cancer and how to live a healthy lifestyle but also with the assurance that truly, Asian Tigers Malaysia cares for its people.
The Cancer Awareness and Health Talk event at Asian Tigers Malaysia was a great success. It created immense awareness and changed employees’ attitudes toward cancer prevention through education on the benefits of early detection, healthy lifestyles, and proactive health management, thus underlining Asian Tigers Malaysia’s care for employee health and creating a supportive environment within which one can stay health-conscious to the benefit of every stakeholder in the long run.
