Asian Tigers China Corporate Citizenship program is our guide to making a positive impact on society at large, and our stakeholders:
artners, employees, investors, local communities, customers, and others. Our Corporate Citizenship commitments are anchored in our core values, and reflected in the actions of our people to make a sustainable, measurable difference to the communities in which we work and live.
At Asian Tigers China, we are committed to creating value for our clients, our employees, our communities, and our planet, executed through our Corporate Citizenship efforts and programs. We are also dedicated to continuing to raise the standard for ourselves, making strategic investments in time and resources to meet our goals, drive improvement, and achieve greater impact. We have identified 4 broad categories where we can make a positive CSR contribution:
Climate Action
Resource & Waste Management
Nature
Community Involvement
Climate Action
Carbon management is a key environmental concern among all stakeholders. Decarbonizing our world requires a collective, global effort by countries and companies working together. Asian Tigers China is active in both compliance (mandatory) and voluntary carbon offset markets. Asian Tigers China takes GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard as guidance and uses GHG Emissions Calculation Tool for GHG inventory report.
Asian Tigers China is committed to:
- continue our efforts to reduce our GHG emissions;
- conduct risk assessment to safeguard resiliency of our commercial activities;
- transparently report on our progress, risks and opportunities align with our GHG inventory report;
- establish criteria to demonstrate meaningful environmental performance and improvement across the lifecycle of our services.
Asian Tigers China recognizes responding to climate change as one of its most important management issues. Accordingly, we set annual targets to guide initiatives to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in both our own business and the services we provide. Going forward, we will intensify our activities based on GHG Emissions Vision 2050, a long term vision looking ahead to the year 2050. As part of the vision’s response to climate change, we aim to achieve a 50% reduction in GHG emissions generated by the year 2035 compared to the year 2020 level and to contribute to realizing a net zero emissions by the year 2050. To fulfill these targets, we will concentrate in our activities on investing in energy-saving equipment such as replace with electricity vehicles and expanding the use of renewable energy (solar energy), while in the area of services we will focus on development of energy technologies to realize decarbonization.
Resource & Waste Management
Asian Tigers China strives to reduce waste throughout our operations – from the buildings we occupy to the services we provide our customers.
Our initiatives in this area span the entire material lifecycle, from procurement to the use of materials and their responsible disposal. Beyond complying with national and international regulations and standards, we have also introduced environmental management plans suited to the challenges of their operations, executing specific strategies to minimize waste – to – landfill and maximize their contributions to the circular economy.
- Waste segregation and recycling programme;
- Have recycling bins in all offices and warehouses to collect all unwanted paper;
- Use plastic carton and container to packing computers, and common areas for office move;
- Reuse crate for moving piano, paintings and TVs, reuse all cartons with the company logo for local move;
- Reuse the cartons and paper from oversea inbound job to fill in the gap inside the container or truck.
Recognizing the key role that our employees play in our efforts, we strive equally to inculcate a culture of sustainability across the company, encouraging all members of our team to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices that involve reduced resource usage.
Asian Tigers China began its ISO14001 journey in 2002, ensured compliance obligations and continuous improvement on its environmental performance. The environmental management plans developed as part of the ISO14001 journey cover aspects related to waste management and are supported by KPIs for management across the company. Asian Tigers China work to maintain sustainable practices through the ISO certification process, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability to our customers, the industry and the community. For vendors, contract amendments in the year ensured proper waste management and toxic waste disposal, stipulated as part of supplier performance management.
Nature
We, the Asian Tigers Group has joined forces with WWF–Singapore to help protect and secure a future for the wild tigers in Asia.
Wild tiger populations in Asia have plunged by over 95% over the past century. Together with WWF, Asian Tigers Group is taking action to help reverse this trend. Wild tiger numbers are declining in all tiger range countries in mainland Southeast Asia, and it is now a near certainty that these countries will have fewer tigers than they did in 2010- the year the global goal was set to double the world’s wild tigers by 2022.
To bring hope for the overall biodiversity, Asian Tigers Group embarked on a partnership with WWF-Singapore in 2017 to reserve a steep decline in the population of wild tigers by supporting TX2 – a WWF supported goal to double the number of wild tigers by 2022. The partnership enters its fifth year after being renewed for another two years in May 2021, affirming Asian Tigers Group as one of WWF-Singapore’s longest-running partners.
With the partnership, conservation standards (CAITS) and technology (SMART) continue to be refined and implemented across tiger sites to mitigate poaching and prevent snares from wiping out the big cats from their forest homes.
