The Melbourne Cup, the world’s greatest handicap distance thoroughbred race, famously inspired “The Race that Stops a Nation,” and once again this prestigious event resonated within the Kuala Lumpur community. The annual event became a rendezvous point on the Kuala Lumpur social calendar, drawing participation and fervent support from all corners of the city. Asian Tigers Malaysia was proud to be a major sponsor in this year’s celebration, as we think it would mirror our community relation policy interwoven with community involvement in charitable works.
Anticipation was high for the Melbourne Cup as delegates assembled for this much awaited luncheon event. The area was festive, decorated to portray the pomp of the Melbourne Cup. The scenes in fact abounded in cheers and several gasps as the race unfolded. The moment of shared viewing seems to bind people together into a camaraderie of oneness and enjoyment.
Besides the race, there was also a beautiful presentation of food at the luncheon. A luscious feast with diverse dishes — all gourmet and prepared expertly, appealing to various tastes — welcomed the guests. Together with the reborn social atmosphere, the food giving itself an invitation was the king to soothe participants, cause them to mix freely, and be full of jubilant feelings.
