OMNI Conference – The Thousand Hotel, Kyoto, Japan – 14–18 May 2026
Days after the global moving community gathered in Osaka, it reconvened an hour up the line in Kyoto for the 2026 OMNI Conference, and this time the conversation had a clear protagonist: artificial intelligence. Set in Japan’s thousand-year cultural capital, the event asked a question every mover is now living with. How do we adopt powerful new technology without compromising the quality and trust our customers depend on?
Hosted at The Thousand Hotel beside Kyoto Station from 14 to 18 May, OMNI (the Overseas Moving Network International) is one of the industry’s most respected by-invitation networks. Kyoto, with its 1,600 temples, 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and centuries of refined craft, made an apt setting for a week about marrying tradition with innovation.
AI takes centre stage
This year OMNI put technology front and centre, introducing delegates to Yumi, the conference’s own AI assistant, and framing much of the programme around what AI means for global mobility. The discussion was less about hype and more about practicality: where automation genuinely improves the customer experience, where it streamlines the complex logistics behind every international move, and where the human judgement of an experienced mover remains irreplaceable.
“Technology changes how we work; it does not change what we are accountable for. The standard a family is owed, their belongings handled with care and their move delivered as promised, is the same whether the workflow is run by a person or assisted by an algorithm.”
