Venue Originals, Singapore
On the 28th of February, Asian Tigers Singapore organized one of the most highly anticipated “Get-to-know Singapore” coffee morning sessions at the very scenic Originals in the Sime Darby Centre. The meeting was really well-organized with the aim of providing a platform where new people in Singapore could meet and interact with other people apart from being able to derive useful information on living in this fabulous city. It was indeed an enthusiastic and informative gathering arranged by the team from Asian Tigers Singapore, truly dedicated to ensuring that the settlers have a smooth transition.
The morning began with relaxed surroundings—Originals—with its quirky decor and feel of a casual hangout. With visitors trickling in, warm smiles greeted them, accompanied by good feelings of welcome from the Asian Tigers Singapore team. The icebreaker session was just the kind of start to the morning that would allow newcomers to introduce themselves and break the ice with others who were similarly new in town.
One of the highlights of the coffee morning was a very enlightening talk by one of the Asian Tigers’ Customer Relations members. All aspects of living in Singapore were covered to give participants a balanced view of what to expect in their new home. The presentation touched on a range of important topics, from housing and transportation through healthcare and education to local customs. This was a goldmine of information for people who are settling in a new city, in a new country.
During the talk, the new batch of expats was very receptive and inquisitive, asking many questions and seeking advice. The Asian Tigers Customer Relations team was happy to provide detailed answers and share personal experiences, together with tips on living in Singapore. It was an interactive session whereby everybody got to voice their concerns and really understand their new environment.
One of the main things that were shared was about Singapore’s diverse and efficient public transport system. Participants were introduced to the vast network of MRTs, bus services, and how transportation apps facilitate their use. Practical tips and advice on finding housing, the understanding of the tenancy agreement, and different neighborhoods suitable for a variety of lifestyles and preferences were also shared.
Another significant area was healthcare in Singapore: what was available for public and private healthcare services, how health insurance is obtained, where general practitioners would be found, and more importantly the local healthcare system. This was especially important for families with children, and the education system was covered from preschool to international schools and local schooling.
The cultural segment of the talk was most engaging, as it introduced the new people to the rich tapestry of Singaporean cultures. The participants gained an insight into local festivals, food, and etiquette through activities that would help them mix better and appreciate the local way of life. Tips on everyday customs, like the importance of queueing and the local hawker centers, added practicality to the cultural overview.
The atmosphere was one of brotherhood and community at the end of this session. Many expressed gratitude for the knowledge shared and the opportunity to meet fellow people in similar circumstances. Team Asian Tigers Singapore was obviously appreciated for its effort to organize such an event, and the response from new arrivals was very positive.
The coffee morning was crowned by some light refreshments, giving more time for informal chatting and networking. People simply stayed there and continued with their conversations while exchanging phone numbers, taking the first steps toward future friendship and support groups.
In summary, the “Get-to-know Singapore” coffee morning session was indeed a great success for Asian Tigers Singapore. This was the perfect introduction to life in Singapore for any newcomer, striking a nice balance of information, practical tips, and social contact. This not only facilitated a smooth transition into the country for new arrivals but also served as a clear reminder of Asian Tigers Singapore’s commitment to giving the best possible support and service to its customers. The team looks forward to organizing more such sessions and welcomes people who are keen to make Singapore their home.
