On March 8, 2019, the much-anticipated FTCC Golf Tournament took place at the beautiful Legacy Golf Club. This annual event, which the FTCC had specially put together, attracted numerous golf enthusiasts as well as businesspeople. Asian Tigers Thailand was one of the sponsors of this event, further underscoring its commitment to community and business engagement.

The tournament began with a shotgun tee-off just after noon, as golfers were well prepared to take on the immaculately mowed fairways of Legacy Golf Club. The course, renowned as a challenging yet rewarding one, was sure to set the perfect environment for the event. The golfers on the course were of all skill levels, ranging from experienced to first-timers who are thrilled to play, with the main goal of having fun, playing golf, and interacting with one another.

The peculiarity of this year’s contest, for sure, was the participation of the freshly installed French Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Jacques Lapouge. His attendance alone gave so much prestige to the event and brought up the very strong connection of the French business community to that of the Thais. The brilliance of the tournament underscored the presence of Ambassador Lapouge not only for sporting but for connecting two nations in international relations and business networking.

Day on the greens was a day of friendly competition and careening new relationships. Navigating the course, participants were crossing the challenges while enjoying the camaraderie and scenic views. Gamesmanship was enacted in the same relaxed but competitive setting where business discussions melded into the enjoyment of the game. The perfect combination of beautiful weather, a really good course set up well, and the participants excited to be out on it just made it a memorable golfing experience.

When the sun started going down, the golfers embarked on their way back toward the clubhouse, where members and non-members who had finished their rounds began settling down for the dinner presentation of prizes that were to be awarded starting at 6 pm. The dinner was served in a full banquet room with elegant decorations, where guests intermingled to share their success of the day. The atmosphere in this hall was quite jovial and friendly, with heated conversations and bursts of laughter as people narrated their experiences round after round.

The climax of the evening was the big awards presentation that acknowledged how the performances throughout the day were stellar. Prices were given in many categories and presented the winners showing off the skill and sportsmanship of the performers. All their peers screamed and hollered, overwhelming everyone and creating a great feel of togetherness and shared victory. A few special acknowledgements were also awarded to the sponsors of this event among them, Asian Tigers Thailand, without whose support the tournament could never be the great success it was.

The Ambassador Lapouge thanked the participants and underlined this kind of activity of unifying people from abroad and local businesses to be very important. His speech showed its success, as everybody realized the importance of the FTCC Golf Tournament as the unifier of the local French and Thai communities.

The evening was well rounded off with a very fine dinner-the buffet table was laid out with heavy damages in delicacies. The menu was thoughtfully selected to suit different tastes, so that each guest had a good time at dinner. Dinner proved to be an excellent avenue for more networking, with participants strengthening their linkages, talking informally about possible collaboration.

The tournament was a great success, and last year’s FTCC Golf Tournament 2019 was held at Legacy Golf Club. It was certainly a mix of sports, business, and diplomacy, bringing people across society together to share the same interests and build relationships. Asian Tigers Thailand really put their mark on the event through their outstanding sponsorship to support activities and programs that benefit the community and businesses at large. The event saw in its presence one of them, H.E. The newest bonus of prestige added to the tournament came from Mr. Jacques Lapouge, the new Ambassador of France to Thailand. The participants went back home with a strong feeling of achievement and promises for more to come since this first tournament of the year is a confirmation of the reputation that FTCC Golf Tournament has within the business and sporting calendars.
