Beyond a Company Trip: Honouring Service and Supporting Hat Yai’s Recovery
On 5 February, our Malaysia team was on the road again, on their yearly company trip and dinner, which this year took them to the bustling border town of Hat Yai in southern Thailand. What would have otherwise been just another celebration of teamwork and hard work on the part of this dedicated team, would this time also serve as an opportunity to connect with a community that was previously impacted by hardship.
At Asian Tigers Group, being a top-notch moving company is not only about packing skills, shipping resources, or a network of global affiliates. It is about people. It is about community. And it is about showing up when it matters most.
Standing with Hat Yai in Recovery
Hat Yai was ravaged by catastrophic floods in November last year. The floodwaters swept through several areas of southern Thailand. The impact that the flood had on the region was and remains significant. The city has been in a state of steady recovery but one that is still visibly impacted in certain districts.
As relocation professionals, we understand how disruptive displacement and damage can be. Whether it is a family moving across borders, a company relocating employees, or a community rebuilding after a natural disaster, the emotional and practical challenges can be immense.
Our appearance in Hat Yai was not about self-promotion. In fact, by traveling, staying, and dining in Hat Yai, as well as by supporting and re-visiting some of the local areas that were impacted by these floods, we wished to show our support for the community’s recovery efforts as best we could. Seeing the markets that have reopened, attractions that once again welcome the public, and local business people who continue to fight tooth and nail to reclaim their places in society, all left an impression on us. The people of Hat Yai have demonstrated resilience that is reminiscent of the same found in families who step forth with courage and optimism in the face of uncertain international relocations.
A Celebration of Dedication and Loyalty
While supporting the local community was meaningful, our annual dinner also focused on celebrating the people who make Asian Tigers Malaysia what it is.
This year, we proudly honoured seven team members who reached significant service milestones of 10 and 15 years. Together, these dedicated colleagues represent an impressive 85 years of loyalty, professionalism, and contribution. Each of the seven honourees was presented with a certificate and a special reward: a small gold bar. This meaningful gesture symbolised the value we place on their dedication and long term commitment to excellence.
In the relocation industry, experience matters. Every move involves detailed planning, secure packing, customs documentation, careful coordination with global partners, and often temporary storage solutions. Long-serving team members carry institutional knowledge that cannot be replicated overnight. They understand not only the technical aspects of moving, but also the human side of transition.
Each milestone recipient was presented with a certificate and a special reward in recognition of their commitment. These moments are important for us. They reinforce that behind every successful shipment, every secure container, and every satisfied client, there are individuals who care deeply about their work.

While we honored those with impressive long-term commitments to the firm, we also celebrated those who show up daily to support their teammates. This year, we awarded six team members who each achieved perfect attendance for 2025 without any medical leave days by giving each a certificate and a cash reward. Each of these team members demonstrates how commitment to a team effort is vital in our company.
In a moving company environment, coordination is everything. Professional movers, coordinators, surveyors, warehouse teams, and office staff must work in harmony. A single relocation can involve site surveys, packing schedules, customs clearance processes, shipping timelines, and sometimes short or long-term storage arrangements. When team members show up consistently and support one another, the entire system functions smoothly.
By honouring these individuals, we reaffirm our commitment to recognising not only exceptional achievements, but also daily dedication.

The itinerary in Hat Yai was designed to strengthen bonds and create shared memories. From temple visits to time spent at an elephant sanctuary, from shopping excursions to enjoying incredible local cuisine, our team experienced the richness of Thai culture together.

Special shipments such as fine art, pianos, or items requiring climate-controlled storage demand meticulous attention.
