Year of the Wood Dragon

On the 9th day of Chinese New Year celebrations, our Malaysia office welcomed the Year of the Wood Dragon with a traditional lion dance and potluck lunch.

The customary lion dance is believed to bring blessings, prosperity, and good health, wealth and fortune to business, driving away all negative energy and evil spirits. During the ceremony, the lions were given mandarins and lettuce to be eaten and tossed around.

Following this wonderfully colourful lion dance and office blessing the team gathered for Yee Sang, also known as a Prosperity Toss. In Malaysia, Yee Sang is more than just a dish – the ritualistic tossing of the colourful ingredients by everyone gathered around the table symbolises unity, prosperity, and abundance. It’s believed that the higher you toss the salad, the more success you’ll get, so it’s easy to imagine how much fun and messy this can get!

After Yee Sang, staff continued their tradition of enjoying a wonderful potluck lunch.
