Report on the progress of Our Corporate Sustainability Programme

Our Environment

Asian Tigers Hong Kong has made continuous efforts to build a more sustainable business. We have adopted a wide range of measures on energy saving, waste management and sustainable use of resources to help to minimize our impact on the environment.

Electronic WastePackaging Material Energy Efficiency
When e-waste is not disposed of correctly, it can produce toxic substances like lead causing environmental damage and creating increased risk to our water, soil, air and wildlife. Asian Tigers continue to support the WEEE program and help to collect and deliver over 200 pieces of e-waste to recycling plants. Used packaging materials don’t simply disappear into thin air. Much of the waste is taken to landfill sites. Here, packaging materials including plastic and paper take hundreds of years to decompose. At Asian Tigers, we reuse some of the packaging materials. In addition, for those materials we are unable to reuse, we find a way to recycle them, In three years, we took over 50 tons of waste paper materials to recycle plant. Reducing energy use is essential in the fight against climate change because traditional power plants burn fossil fuels that release greenhouse gases and contribute to air pollution. Asian Tigers undertakes various energy-saving initiatives which have helped us reduce electric consumption by 15% over a three-year period.
Toxic Emissions and Waste Environmental Conservation Certified Management System
Toxic waste can harm people, animals, and plants, whether it ends up in the ground, in streams, or even in the air. Some toxins, such as mercury persist in the environment for many years and accumulate over time. Humans or wildlife often absorb these toxic substances when they eat fish or other prey. At Asian Tigers, we make sure our packing material is tested and toxinfree. Then chemical wastes are properly collected and taken to a recycling firm. Environmental conservation is the practice of us humans saving the environment from the loss of species. We do our part by having the Asian Tigers Group actively support the WWF to conserve tigers in the wild. Between 2019 and 2022, the group donated $100,000 US dollars to help double the number of tigers in the wild. An environmental certificate serves to drive and remind us that it is everyone’s job to protect the environment. By reducing and even preventing pollution, we continually improve the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the earth we inhabit. Asian Tigers has an environmental management system that is certified to meet ISO14001 standards as well as Wastewise standards.
