No matter you are seeking furniture or throwing them away, you can do that in an environmental-friendly way. Since resources are scarce, no useful resources should be wasted. Instead of buying brand new products, why don’t we think of the second hand one? Instead of throwing things to landfill directly, why don’t we think of donating them?

In fact, there are some charities and organizations in Hong Kong are collecting second hand furniture or electrical appliances. Some of the items collected will be donated to the public and some will be sold in second hand markets.

One of the renowned charities who collect goods for the needy is Crossroads Foundation Hong Kong. Crossroads takes high-quality goods from donors and redistributes them to people in need, locally and internationally. It receives various furniture and electric appliances, yet, donors may need to deliver the goods themselves due to the insufficient volunteers.

Another option can be The Salvation Army, which is an international Christian church and charity. It has been serving Hong Kong for over 85 years since 1930. It welcomes both organization and personal donations. Part of the donated goods will be directly helping people in need, such as home alone elderly, street sleepers, ex-prisoners and CSSA recipients. If the goods you are going to donate are heavy items or large in quantity, it will provide pick-up services.

If you want to purchase second hand furniture, you will be interested in the organization named Green dot Home. Green dot Home established in 2012 with a mission of promoting sustainable living in Hong Kong. All of their goods are in good and usable condition. You may find some high quality second hand goods there.

No matter you are seeking furniture or throwing away furniture, you can make a better world.
