The Porcelarts Workshop, held by the Asian Tigers Group on April 22, 2017, at the Applique Studio in Hong Kong, turned out to be a runaway success, putting creativity and community bonding together. This workshop presented participants with the opportunity to be introduced to the intricate and delicate art of Porcelarts, which constitutes porcelain painting and crafting.

The chosen venue for this type of creative workshop was just perfect—the Applique Studio. Tucked right in the heart of Hong Kong is the Appliqué Studio, boasting an inspiring atmosphere and state-of-the-art facilities. The studio provided the perfect space for participants to understand their creative potential within a friendly environment that was fully equipped with all the necessary tools. Each participant, irrespective of skill level, was given a full opportunity to participate in the processes of creating beautiful pieces of art through well-structured events.

The types of people who went to the Porcelarts Workshop included art lovers, families, and those who just wanted to experience a new activity. The workshop began with a short introduction by the organizers, where participants were introduced to the world of Porcelarts. It is a Japanese art of designing and painting fancy designs and patterns on porcelain articles using special paints and varnishing techniques so that the finished products become personalized and unique pieces reflecting the imagination and grace of their creator.

Participants were guided through these different stages of Porcelarts with experienced instructors who demonstrated various techniques, such as painting and stenciling, and gave individual practical help to see that everyone could do it. Their expertise and patience shone through as they moved around the room, advising and encouraging the budding artists.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the wide array of porcelain pieces provided for decoration. From plates and cups to saucers and other porcelain pieces, functional and decorative items have been given life by the participants. The diversity of porcelain pieces was another added dimension of excitement based on how everybody else was quite anxious to select his or her items and imagine which designs would be impressed on them.

The atmosphere was very jovial and at the same time, full of positive energy throughout the workshop. Participants were exchanging their viewpoints, relaying their progress, and admiring each other’s work. The spirit for collaborative work, like that in this event, seemed contagious. In its essence, it was pretty endearing that people from different walks of life across various age groups came together for the simple sake of enjoying a creative activity. The workshop provided a good avenue for making new friends and forging stronger bonds that already were there through the bond that came with working for Porcelarts.

The finished pieces were nothing less than amazing. Each participant went home with a very different work of art, created by themselves, that would remind them of the fun and enriching experience. Indeed, the element of pride and content could be noted in the faces of participants gazing lovingly at what they had made, then shared this with others.

The Porcelarts Workshop was more than an event about creativity and community engagement; it brought out the feeling that local artists and businesses are worth supporting. Conducting the workshop at Applique Studio, Asian Tigers Group underscored its commitment to promotion and sustainability regarding the local art scene in Hong Kong.

The Porcelarts Workshop was the place where art, community, and fun blended in perfect combination, offering a very valuable opportunity to learn a new skill, unleash one’s creativity, and connect with like-minded people in an atmosphere that is supportive enough to enhance inspiration. Not only did the sterling organizational work by Asian Tigers Group show, but also the eagerness of the participants, which made it really unique for everybody present.
